Free license number change after identity theft

Beginning January 1, 2027, the Nevada DMV must let identity theft victims get a new driver's license number. Identity theft is defined by Nevada law (NRS 205.463, 205.464, or 205.465). The DMV cannot charge a fee for this change if no other change to the license is requested or required. The DMV also cannot charge a fee to replace a Social Security-based license number with a unique number, as long as no other change is made.
