Washoe, Reno, Sparks fire district study

The law requires Washoe County, Reno, and Sparks to form a 6‑member public board to study one county fire district. The county and both cities share study costs, and the board can hire consultants. Expenses tied to this act are not limited by NRS 354.599. The board must review response times, readiness, costs, legal steps, needed assessments, debts and liabilities, and fire insurance impacts, and deliver a report with any bill ideas by December 31, 2026. A majority makes a quorum, actions need a majority plus at least one “yes” from each jurisdiction, and Section 15 is in effect now and ends July 1, 2027.
