Gun seizure and return after crisis hold

Beginning July 1, 2025, if you are placed on a mental health crisis hold, an arrest‑authorized officer can immediately take any firearm on you or nearby. The officer must give you a receipt that describes the gun and written steps for how to get it back. After you are released from treatment, the agency must make the gun available to you unless an officer filed a verified application for a high‑risk protection order (NRS 33.560) or you are banned from having guns under NRS 202.360. These rules apply only to firearms found on you or in your immediate vicinity during the hold.
