Nevada colleges shielded from spring 2020 lawsuits

The law gives the State, NSHE colleges, and their staff immunity from civil suits over spring 2020 tuition and fees. It applies when actions were reasonably tied to public health and done in good faith, like following laws or written orders. It covers closures, limited campus access, online classes, or other changes to educational services in spring 2020. This is an exception to Nevada’s normal waiver of sovereign immunity and adds to other legal protections. It applies to cases filed on or after March 12, 2020 with no final judgment. The protections end on June 30, 2030.
