Homeowners pay tax for Las Vegas police

From July 1, 2027 through June 30, 2057, property in unincorporated Clark County and the City of Las Vegas pays an extra 20¢ per $100 of assessed value for the police. On a $100,000 assessed home, that is $200 a year. The county collects it like other property taxes, with the same interest and penalties, at a uniform rate across those areas, and sends all collections to the police department. This levy is outside the usual local revenue cap, but state partial property tax abatements still apply for those who qualify. The money can only be used to hire additional officers and related costs, as approved by the committee.
