Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

4 provisions identified: 4 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

Lower-cost state housing for employees

Beginning July 1, 2025, the State can lease its housing to some employees for below-market rent. You qualify if your job requires you to live there, or the managing agency decides it helps the State. The State Land Registrar and the agency head must approve the lease and set the rent. The Registrar can waive the lease application fee. Rent collected stays in a separate account to run and fix these homes, and any leftover money carries forward.

New fund for out-of-state fires

Beginning July 1, 2025, Nevada creates an Out-of-State Fire Suppression Account. The State Forester Firewarden runs it to pay costs for out-of-state fires and emergencies and receive reimbursements. Interest earned stays in the account, and any balance carries forward each year. The law also transfers $27,359,038 on July 1, 2025 to seed this fund.

Short-term cash for fire response

Beginning July 1, 2025, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources can get a short advance from the State General Fund to pay fire or emergency bills on time. This applies when reimbursements from federal, local, or other states are delayed and claims would go unpaid within 30 days. The Office of Finance must confirm billings were sent and can approve only the amount due from outstanding reimbursable bills. The advance must be repaid by the last business day in August after that fiscal year.

Dedicated account for forestry programs

Beginning July 1, 2025, all money the State Forester receives for certain forestry laws goes into the Division of Forestry Account. The account can pay program and administrative costs tied to those laws and cannot be used for other purposes. Any money left at year end carries forward instead of returning to the General Fund.
