Higher pilotage fees in NY waters

The law raises base pilotage fees at Sandy Hook, Sands Point, and Execution Rocks. It sets yearly rate tables by Pilotage Units (P.U.) for services on or after Jan 1 of 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029, 2030, 2031, and 2032. Six P.U. bands apply: 0–24.99; 25–49.99; 50–99.99; 100–499.99; 500–1,649.99; and 1,650+. Small bands use flat fees; larger bands use per‑P.U. formulas. For 2027, examples: 0–24.99 P.U. = $927; 25–49.99 = $1,092; 50–99.99 = $1,348; 100–499.99 = $13.59 per P.U.; 500–1,649.99 = $6,793 plus $1.82 per P.U. over 500; 1,650+ = $8,988 plus $5.15 per P.U. over 1,650. Use the table for your service date to compute the fee per pilotage job. The act takes effect immediately.
