Seniors get home energy aid information
New York's health department must give Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage (EPIC) participants information about Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) eligibility and applications. This information must accompany every EPIC paper application distributed and reach all participants each year. The department must consult the state Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance when developing the notice. Once a participant's household enrolls in HEAP, the local social services district must provide written notice and information under state rules.
Automatic energy aid enrollment ends for seniors
The law ends automated record matching to identify and enroll New York's senior drug coverage participants in home energy aid. Instead, an EPIC participant's household must apply for and enroll in the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). The health department must then enroll the participant within 60 days of receiving confirmation of HEAP eligibility. HEAP eligibility rules do not change.
