More dementia support for seniors and caregivers

The law expands the state’s Alzheimer’s and dementia outreach program. It now covers finding dementia in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and assisted living. It includes community supports like caregiver support groups, respite, and care management. The Health Commissioner decides what other dementia topics the program includes; the Office for the Aging no longer shares this role. These changes take effect on the same date and in the same way as the 2024 law that set up the program.
