Beginning on the same day as the related 2024 Down syndrome law, the Health Department posts current, evidence-based facts online. The page lists outcomes (physical, developmental, educational, and psychosocial), life expectancy, clinical course, treatments, hotlines, resource centers, and local and national groups. The Commissioner ensures the information is culturally and linguistically appropriate and meets with the Down syndrome community as needed.
The law delays when the related 2024 Down syndrome awareness chapter takes effect. That chapter now takes effect 180 days after it became law. Families and people with Down syndrome get the required information later than an immediate start.
