Trainers licensed or title-protected elsewhere, and foreign-credentialed athletic therapists, in good standing can work in New York. You must have a written agreement with a U.S. Olympic-recognized team, an out-of-state school or college team, a pro or amateur team, or a performing arts troupe. You may treat only that team’s athletes and staff at a discrete sanctioned event or traveling performance in New York. Venues must be a listed type, such as a school, college, pro or nonprofit sports site, dance group, U.S. military facility, police academy, or fire academy. You may work only from 5 days before through 3 days after each event, and you are under the New York Board of Regents’ full disciplinary authority.
