Cancel car broker deals within 3 days

You can cancel an automobile broker contract without penalty within three days after you get a signed copy. You can also cancel until the car is delivered, if that happens sooner. If the car is not delivered within 30 days after the estimated delivery date, you can cancel and get a full refund, unless the delay is your fault. The broker must give you two copies of a detachable Notice of Cancellation form, in at least 12-point type, with their address. To cancel, sign and date the notice and mail or deliver it to the broker within three days, or before delivery if earlier. You also keep any other cancellation rights under New York law.

Brokers must disclose no dealer ties

Automobile brokers must tell you in writing that they are not affiliated with any car dealer. They must also say they are not tied to any car maker, franchisor, or distributor. This statement appears in the broker disclosures you get with services or contracts. It helps you see if the broker is independent.
