School boards in union free and small city districts must hold their yearly organizational meeting in July, on or before the Monday after July 20. The meeting is at 4:00 PM, or another time the board sets. At this meeting, the board picks a president for one year and may also name a vice-president. Newly elected members convene on the first business day in July, unless another date is chosen under section 2504. Boards must also set a regular monthly meeting day and a way to call special meetings. The law repeals older scheduling rules, including subdivision 2 of section 1707 and section 1904. These changes take effect immediately.
