Walser and Patire can take police exam

The law lets Christopher Walser and Matthew Patire take the competitive civil service exam for police officer despite age limits in Civil Service Law section 58. If they earn qualifying scores, they can be placed on the eligible list for full-time police officer jobs with the Village of Skaneateles Police Department. Any hire still follows the normal process. They must meet the same merit and fitness rules as all other police candidates. The law takes effect immediately.
