Prohibits the state university of New York from contracting out certain services

Albany university workers gain outsourcing protections

Effective immediately, the law protects work currently done by unclassified-service employees at the State University of New York (SUNY) Albany. SUNY and its affiliated or associated entities cannot outsource or privatize that work to the Albany NanoTech land leaseholder, its subsidiaries, or the SUNY Research Foundation. These functions must remain with SUNY Albany unclassified-service employees, despite any conflicting law or rule. The lease arrangement cannot weaken employee rights or benefits under union contracts or Civil Service Law Article 14. SUNY and New York State also agree not to use outsourcing rights under applicable union contracts.
