The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority can now appoint officers, staff, and agents, and set their qualifications, duties, and pay. Hiring must follow New York civil service law and any union contracts. The authority can also hire lawyers, auditors, engineers, and other private consultants. All jobs at the authority, except police positions, are in the civil service exempt class. The law takes effect immediately and does not set pay limits.
