The law ends any salary for members of the state energy research and development authority, including the chair. Members still get repaid for actual and necessary expenses from official duties. This change applies to appointed authority members, not the public.
The authority is treated as a state agency under New York’s ethics and conflict-of-interest law. Members are state officers for those rules. They may do private work or run a business, but must follow those limits. Utility officers on the board can still vote on bonds for air and water pollution projects for other utilities.
