The law lets certain licensed health workers from other states give care in New York at New York Road Runners (NYRR) events. They must be appointed by NYRR and be in good standing in their home state or territory. They may treat athletes and team staff who are registered to train in New York or to compete in an NYRR‑sanctioned event. Covered jobs include physicians, physician assistants, nurses and nurse practitioners, emergency medical technicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, massage therapists, chiropractors, dentists, optometrists, and podiatrists. They can do this without getting a separate New York license or certification. The permission runs from 4 days before through 1 day after each event: New York City Marathon (Nov 2, 2025; a date in Nov 2026), Brooklyn Half (May 17, 2025; a date in May 2026), Bronx 10 Mile (Sep 14, 2025; a date in Sep 2026), New York City Half (Mar 16, 2025; a date in Mar 2026), Staten Island Half (Oct 12, 2025; a date in Oct 2026), and Queens 10K (Jun 14, 2025; a date in Jun 2026). This authority is in force for these events on and after January 1, 2025, and it ends December 31, 2026. Outside these appointments and time windows, normal New York licensure rules apply.
