The law lets the Town of Islip assessor accept a late property tax exemption application from New Hour for Women and Children LI, Inc. It covers 248 Crooked Hill Road (Suffolk Tax Map 0500-114.00-01.00-140.000) for the 2022-2023, 2023-2024, and 2024-2025 assessment rolls. The assessor reviews it as if filed on time and, with Town Board approval, may grant an exemption from all property taxes and correct the rolls. If granted, the town or tax department may refund any taxes, fines, or penalties already paid and cancel unpaid amounts, at their discretion. The act takes effect immediately.
