Assisted living homes must post starting service rates, starting rent ranges, and all service fees. They must also share the approved admission or residency agreement. This must be on the website and in a public space at the home. Starting January 1, 2025, they must also send this information to the New York Department of Health. The law increases transparency but does not set prices.
All assisted living residences must file a yearly quality report with the state. The first report is due by April 15, 2025. The Health Department scores the results; homes in the top 25% get advanced standing on inspection schedules and keep it while they qualify. Starting April 30, 2025, the state posts facility-level quality results online for the public.
