Out-of-state providers can treat Ironman athletes

The law lets certain out-of-state health professionals give care at Ironman Lake Placid without a New York license. They must be licensed or certified in another U.S. state or territory, be in good standing, and be appointed by the World Triathlon Corporation. Care is only for athletes and team personnel registered to train in New York or to compete in the event. Allowed dates are July 15–20, 2026 (four days before through one day after the July 19 race). Covered providers include doctors, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, EMTs, physical therapists, massage therapists, chiropractors, dentists, optometrists, podiatrists, and athletic trainers. The act expires July 22, 2026.
