Pharmacy technicians can assist in any pharmacy

Registered pharmacy technicians can work in any pharmacy under a licensed pharmacist’s direct personal supervision. They may help compound, prepare, label, or dispense drugs to fill valid prescriptions or orders. They may also prepare and label drugs in advance, but only tasks needing no professional judgment. The supervising pharmacist stays in the immediate area and must authorize and approve all work before dispensing. The pharmacy must train technicians and ensure competence.
