Beginning one year after this act becomes law, physical therapist assistants work under continuous supervision by a licensed physical therapist. The therapist does not need to be on site, but must be available to consult with the assistant or patient within a reasonable time set by the Commissioner. Assistants cannot evaluate or test patients, interpret results, or plan or change a plan of care.
Beginning one year after this act becomes law, one physical therapist may supervise no more than four assistants, with details set by the Commissioner’s rules.
