Authorizes the county of Suffolk to alienate certain lands used as parklands and to dedicate certain other lands as parklands

Suffolk parkland swap allows residential improvements

Effective immediately, Suffolk County can transfer a Smithtown park parcel to Russel and Deana Galindo for residential improvements. It contains 10,113.62 square feet, about 0.232 acres, and loses its parkland status. The swap requires the Galindos to convey replacement land as the county acquires and dedicates it as parkland. The replacement parcel contains 10,327.43 square feet, about 0.237 acres. Suffolk must never have used that land for public open space or parks. If its fair market value is lower, Suffolk must put the difference toward more parkland or capital improvements to existing parks. If federal funds supported the original parcel's purchase, maintenance, or improvement, Suffolk must meet federal requirements before the transfer. These include an Interior Secretary determination that replacement land has equivalent fair market value and usefulness.
