Property tax relief for West Hempstead Chabad

The Nassau County assessor can accept a late property tax exemption application from Chabad of West Hempstead for 545 Nassau Boulevard (parcel ID section 35, block J, lot 5 and 1007). The filing is under state Real Property Tax Law section 430. It covers a portion of the 2022–2023 school taxes and a portion of the 2023 general taxes. It also covers all 2023–2024 school taxes and all 2024 general taxes, plus all restored 2024–2025 school taxes and all restored 2025 general taxes. If accepted, the application is treated as filed on time. The assessor may correct the tax rolls if the group would have qualified, but the Nassau County Legislature must approve. If the exemption is granted, county officials may refund taxes already paid and cancel any unpaid taxes, fines, penalties, liens, or interest. This law takes effect immediately.
