Authorizes the use of certain park lands for any school purposes

Albany parkland opens to broader school use

Effective immediately, Albany can end park use and sell 4.5 acres of Lincoln Park at fair market value. The land can serve any school purpose, not just public schools, including school buildings and access streets. Albany must dedicate at least the land’s fair market value to buying parkland or capital improvements to existing parks and recreation facilities. If federal money funded the land’s purchase, maintenance, or improvements, Albany must meet federal requirements before ending park use or selling. This includes satisfying the U.S. Secretary of the Interior that replacement land has equal fair market value and usefulness.
