Late tax exemption applications for Nachlas Sofrim

Effective immediately, the Ramapo assessor can accept a late property tax exemption application from Yeshivas Nachlas Sofrim Inc. It covers 66 Highview Road in Ramapo, Rockland County: tax map section 56.06, block 1, lot 14. The request covers all 2022-2023 school taxes and all 2022 and 2023 general taxes. An accepted application is reviewed as filed on time. The assessor must find that the organization qualified by the original filing deadline. With Ramapo town board approval, the assessor may correct the tax roll. If the exemption is granted, the governing body or tax department may choose to refund paid taxes. Those officials may also cancel unpaid taxes, fines, penalties, liens, or interest.
