The law lets the Village of New Berlin stop using about 7.54 acres as parkland and sell it. The village must sell at fair market value to Good Shepherd Communities to build a skilled nursing and rehab facility. The village board sets the sale terms. The village must dedicate an amount equal to or more than the land’s fair market value to buy new parkland or make capital upgrades to parks inside the village. If federal funds supported the park, the sale waits until federal rules are met, including replacing land of equal value and usefulness.
