Full-time police exam for Joseph Fredrick

Beginning April 20, 2026, the law authorizes Joseph Fredrick, a continuously employed part-time police officer for the Village of Allegany, to take the competitive civil service exam for police officer. Based on his score, he can be placed on the eligible list for a full-time police officer job with the Village of Allegany. He must still meet the usual civil service merit and fitness rules for full-time officers. This applies even if normal rules would block it, including Civil Service Law section 58.
