Beginning November 1, 2025, Oklahoma licensed real estate brokers must give buyers a deed theft notice at each closing. The notice must describe the signs and risks of deed theft. Buyers must sign the notice to confirm receipt.
Beginning November 1, 2025, covered Oklahoma real estate licensees must complete deed theft training by November 1, 2028. The Oklahoma Real Estate Commission sets the required hours by rule. Licensees must complete approved continuing education within the 36 months before the term sought for renewal or reactivation. Without it, the Commission cannot renew an active license or reactivate a license. Exemptions cover inactive periods, provisional sales associates, corporations, associations, partnerships, and branch offices. Nonresident licensees are exempt if they hold a current out-of-state license and satisfy that state's renewal education requirement. Those exempt from education in every state where licensed must meet Oklahoma's requirement.
