New task force on tribal consultation

The law creates a 17-member Task Force on Tribal Consultation 2025. Members are appointed by the Governor, legislative leaders, nine tribes, state agencies, and the Commission on Indian Services. The task force explains what state agencies must do when they consult with tribes and continues the 2023 work. All state agencies must help and share information within confidentiality rules. The Governor’s office staffs the task force and gets $70,000 for the two-year budget starting July 1, 2025; it reports to lawmakers by September 15, 2026, ends December 31, 2026, and the act takes effect on passage.
