Oregon’s transportation department must transfer fees from dealer-issued, 30-day recreational vehicle permits to the state parks fund. The parks department has ongoing authority to spend this money for uses set by state law.
Applicants must show insurance proof for light-vehicle permits, motorized recreational-vehicle permits, and dealer-issued or towing-business permits. Insurance must meet Oregon’s minimum liability requirements and cover the full permit period. The proof must list the insurer and policy number. Issuers must deny the permit without this proof.
Buyers living outside Oregon can get a 30-day recreational vehicle permit from the Oregon dealer selling them the vehicle. The purchase agreement must state that the buyer plans to title the vehicle in another state. The permit costs $70 and lasts 30 consecutive days. Only one such permit is allowed per vehicle.
