Oregon Medicaid expands payment for pharmacy care

The law takes effect on the 91st day after Oregon’s 2025 regular legislative session ends. Oregon Health Authority may pay pharmacists or pharmacies for covered services for medical assistance recipients outside coordinated or prepaid managed care. These services must be within the pharmacist’s legal scope of practice. Coordinated care organizations may pay for lawful pharmacist services for managed care members through clinical pharmacy agreements. The authority and coordinated care organizations must pay pharmacies and pharmacists like other providers for specified HIV prevention care. This includes prescribing, dispensing and administering medicines before or after possible HIV exposure, plus the pharmacist’s service.
