Starting with 2025–2026 awards, Oregon can award scholarships to teacher candidates with experience working with diverse populations. Awards provide $12,000 per academic year, for up to the equivalent of two full-time academic years at approved educator preparation providers. Candidates preparing for specified school licenses, registrations, or certifications qualify; those preparing to be administrators do not. Awards are not guaranteed. Earlier grant recipients who qualified for renewal before this law took effect keep renewal eligibility while meeting the commission’s requirements.
Certain Transfer Council subcommittee meetings are exempt from Oregon’s public meetings law. This covers meetings about common course numbering, foundational curricula, or statewide transfer agreements. The exemption does not cover other council meetings, and public-records laws still apply.
The Transfer Council can appoint unequal numbers of public university and community college faculty to some curriculum subcommittees. It must find equal representation impractical because relevant courses, curricula, or fields are unevenly spread between those institutions. This applies to panels recommending curriculum, course or subject content, or teaching methods.
