Pharmacy practitioners may face required safety evaluations

Beginning January 1, 2026, Oregon’s pharmacy board may require safety evaluations for people under investigation for pharmacy law or rule violations. The board must have objectively reasonable grounds to believe the person may be unable to practice with reasonable skill and safety. Evaluations can cover mental health, physical health, chemical dependency, or competence. The person pays, and results must go to the board but remain private. Results can be used in proceedings involving that person, even if the person claims a legal privilege.

Annual renewal fees for pharmacists and pharmacies

Beginning January 1, 2026, Oregon’s pharmacy board sets annual and late renewal fees for pharmacist licenses and registered drug outlets. These outlets include pharmacies, institutional drug outlets, nonprescription drug outlets, and other registered outlets. The board sets fees within the 30 days before each state fiscal year begins. The law sets no dollar amounts and specifies no fee increase.
