Oregon owners and landlords can give squatters 24 hours’ written notice before seeking possession through court. Squatters occupy property as housing without rental rights or a tenant’s permission; tenants covered by existing holdover rules are excluded. The notice must state the move-out date and time and explain that squatter status is the reason. Giving notice creates no tenancy rights, and the court complaint must include the notice. Staying past the deadline allows the owner to use the court possession process. Covered cases carry an $88 filing fee and an $88 fee for a defendant demanding trial, including covered non-dwelling claims.
