College notices when immigration agents enter

Beginning September 30, 2026, Oregon public colleges and universities must alert students and employees when federal immigration officers enter campus. Each campus names who confirms entries, defines the campus area, and sends notices quickly by electronic message. Notices say the general location and whether classes or operations are affected, and they do not include personal or legally protected details. Notices may be withheld if they would threaten safety or if a court order forbids it. Schools also try to tell a student if the campus shared that student’s information with immigration, unless a law or court blocks notice. Training happens at the start and at least every two years for staff who handle notices, and policies follow the Attorney General’s model and are posted online in languages used to communicate with students. No notice is required if officers are only accompanying a patient for medical care. Campus officers, employees, and agents are immune from liability for reasonable, good faith actions under this policy.

School notices when immigration agents enter

Beginning September 30, 2026, every Oregon school district has a policy to alert people when federal immigration officers come onto school property. The policy names who confirms the entry and who sends notices. Notices go quickly by electronic message to students in set grades, their parents or guardians, school staff, and community-based service providers that opt in. Notices say the general location and if classes or operations are affected, and they do not include personal or legally protected details. Notices may be withheld if they would threaten student or staff safety or if a court order forbids it. Schools also try to tell a student or the parent if the district shared that student’s information with immigration, unless a law or court blocks notice. Staff who handle notices get initial training and refreshers at least every two years. The policy follows the Attorney General’s model and is posted in handbooks and online in languages used to communicate with families. School officers, employees, and agents are immune from liability for reasonable, good faith actions under this policy.
