More supervisor options for mental health licenses

Starting January 1, 2027, more licensed professionals can supervise required experience. For regulated social work, supervisors can include licensed psychologists, marriage and family therapists, and professional counselors. For marriage and family therapy and professional counseling, supervisors can include licensed psychologists and clinical social workers. The licensing boards adopt rules to make this work.

Single credentialing system for behavioral health providers

The Oregon Health Authority sets one uniform process to credential behavioral health providers. It picks an electronic credentialing system by June 30, 2027. Coordinated care organizations must use that system starting July 1, 2027 and cannot add extra credentialing steps. The Authority must cut unnecessary paperwork for providers who serve Medicaid, ask providers for ideas, seek any needed approval from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and report every two years to state leaders.
