Fast fix and $500 for car seat buyers

If a seller or platform breaks these sale or disclosure rules, an Oregon buyer can send a written demand. The seller must fix the problem within 30 days after they get the demand. If they do not cure, you can sue in state court within 30 days after your demand. You can recover your actual damages or $500, whichever is more. The court may also order other relief and award your lawyer fees if you win.

Only compliant car seats sold in Oregon

Retailers and online platforms cannot sell or list motor-vehicle child seats that fail federal or Oregon safety standards. A retail platform must block a listing unless the seller tells the platform in writing whether the seat complies. This applies to seats that can be bought and delivered to an Oregon resident.
