Farm processing and biofuel sites qualify

The law treats land under and next to farm processing sites as farm-use land for property taxes. A processing facility now means any place that processes farm products, and approved biofuel makers. Land used to make biofuel counts if you process only your own crops. It also counts if fuel from bought crops is used on your farm, or if you custom process for others nearby. These rules apply for property tax years that begin July 1, 2027.

File by April 1 for farm-use assessment

To get the farm-use assessment for land under or used with a processing facility, you must apply. File with the county assessor by April 1 of the first year you want it. Include proof the land is under or used with a qualifying processing facility and a signed affidavit. These filing rules apply to exclusive and nonexclusive farm-use lands. They apply to property tax years that begin July 1, 2027.
