The law sends set shares of the state lodging tax to tourism and conservation starting January 1, 2027. 1.5% goes to the Oregon Tourism Commission; 0.9% to the Recovering Oregon’s Wildlife Fund Subaccount. 0.35% is split: 0.10% to the Oregon Conservation Corps Fund; 0.050% to State Police (anti‑poaching); 0.050% to Agriculture (Wolf Management Fund); 0.050% to the Oregon Conservation and Recreation Fund; 0.050% for wildlife connectivity; 0.020% for wildlife stewardship; 0.015% to the Invasive Species Control Account; 0.010% to the Department of Justice (wildlife law enforcement); 0.005% to the Invasive Species Council Account. The Department of Revenue may keep up to 2% of collections for administration, and Agriculture and Fish and Wildlife may take admin assessments from their shares. The law also creates the Recovering Oregon’s Wildlife Fund Subaccount and pays habitat conservation stamp program costs from it.
The state charges a 2.75% tax on the full price of lodging stays. The tax has parts of 1.5%, 0.9%, and 0.35%. It applies to stays you pay for on or after January 1, 2027, and is due when your stay ends. Your receipt must show the total tax and label the 0.9% and 0.35% parts as a “nature conservation fee.” Lodging providers or intermediaries collect the tax and may keep 5% of what they collect as reimbursement.
