Gun transfer and magazine rules delayed

The law delays new gun transfer rules and large‑capacity magazine limits until January 1, 2028. Transfer rules now apply only to firearm transfers made on or after that date; the earlier start was March 15, 2026. The large‑capacity magazine limits also start January 1, 2028 and cover making, importing, possessing, using, buying, selling, or transferring those magazines only on or after that date. Gun owners, buyers, and dealers get more time, and communities see these limits start later.
