Ocean Science Trust can form nonprofit

Temporary blue economy task force for Oregon

The law creates a Blue Economy Task Force for Oregon’s coast. It has at least 13 members from the Legislature, coastal tribes, research, business, fishing, tourism, labor, and environmental groups; the Ocean Policy Advisory Council chair also serves. The task force studies Oregon’s blue economy and delivers priorities, a roadmap, and any bill ideas. Appointments finish within 60 days after the law takes effect; the first meeting is within 90 days. The report is due September 15, 2027; agencies must help, LPRO provides staff, and nonlegislator members are unpaid unless eligible under ORS 292.495. The law takes effect on the 91st day after the 2026 session ends. The task force ends December 31, 2027.
