The law bans deductibles, copays, and coinsurance for medically necessary cervical cancer screening. It also bans cost-sharing for needed follow-up, like colposcopy, biopsy, extra cytology, or HPV tests. The rule applies when your plan covers these services. It applies to policies or certificates issued, renewed, or extended on or after the law’s effective date. The law also adds this rule into Oregon’s insurance statutes to make enforcement clear.
The law requires public employee and teacher health plans to stop charging for cervical cancer screening and needed follow-up, like colposcopy, biopsy, or HPV tests. Plans issued, renewed, or extended on or after the law’s effective date must follow this rule. Self-insured plans must follow it for plan periods that start on or after that date. A transition rule applies through June 30, 2026, and the no-cost rule still applies during that time.
