Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

Patient privacy and police rules at hospitals and clinics

Hospitals must keep a written plan for when police arrive and name a supervisor to respond. They must mark nonpublic areas, including any controlled-access spaces and all patient rooms. Hospitals and federally qualified health centers must treat your citizenship, immigration status, and country of birth as protected health information. They may share that info with police only if required by law or a court order. These rules begin on the 91st day after the 2026 session ends.

Health care workers can share immigrant materials

Health care facilities cannot punish employees for handing out immigrant-rights materials from a state agency. This applies to hospitals and federally qualified health centers. You can file a complaint with the state labor commissioner. A union contract can give even more protection.
