The law bars Oregon public bodies from using money, staff, data, tech, equipment, or agreements to help federal agencies sell or transfer certain federal lands in Oregon to private people. It covers only federal property managed by the Bureau of Land Management, Fish and Wildlife Service, Forest Service, or National Park Service as of the law’s start. The ban does not apply to land inside an urban growth boundary; transfers for infrastructure, utilities, transportation, conservation, or recreation; surplus federal buildings; tribal trust or benefit lands; land swaps to consolidate management; lands the Department of State Lands gets in place of the 1859 state grant; or transfers of only timber, minerals, or other resources. Public bodies may still act to protect their own property rights, clear title issues, or do duties required by state law. The act takes effect on passage and ends January 2, 2032.
