Public workers get pesticide exemption with training

Beginning January 1, 2026, eligible employees of covered entities can apply pesticides without a public applicator license or trainee certificate. The device must run on an electric battery and hold no more than five gallons. The pesticide cannot be restricted-use, and applications cannot take place on school campuses. Employees must first complete employer-provided training on safe pesticide handling, application, storage, and device use. Employers must keep training records throughout each employee's employment and show them to the Oregon Department of Agriculture on request.
