Oregon authorizes scholarships for accounting students

Beginning July 1, 2025, the Oregon Board of Accountancy can give grants to groups funding need-based scholarships for accounting students. Eligible schools include Oregon public universities, community colleges, Oregon Health and Science University schools or divisions, and Oregon-based nonprofit private colleges. Schools must meet accreditation requirements, including approval by a recognized regional accreditor or another accreditor the Board recognizes. The Board can set grant eligibility rules; the law does not require a program or set scholarship amounts. The law creates a separate state fund, outside the General Fund, receiving all Board collections and other receipts, plus interest. This money is continuously available for scholarship grants and for administering and enforcing Oregon's accountancy laws.
