For applications submitted on or after July 1, 2025, Oregon teaching-license applicants can work in public schools during license review. Work is allowed for up to 90 calendar days after the commission confirms that required background checks are satisfied. These include a criminal records check and an interstate check for revoked or suspended licenses. The district must complete its employment-history review, and applicants cannot have used this option for the same license within 12 months. Applicants and districts must also meet any additional requirements set by commission rule.
