Drivers who skip a required stop at a permanent truck scale displaying OPEN face a Class A traffic violation. The same penalty applies to failing to move right for a required weigh-in-motion check. These offenses are no longer Class B misdemeanors. Other listed failures to follow enforcement signs, signals, or officer directions remain Class B misdemeanors. The lower classification applies to offenses committed on or after the law’s effective date.
Oregon courts must send convictions for ignoring commercial-vehicle enforcement requirements under ORS 818.400 to the state transportation department. They must send these records within 24 hours after sentencing. Courts need not report ORS 825.990 convictions tied to violations of ORS 825.450 or ORS 825.470. That exception changes reporting, not the underlying offenses. These rules apply to records forwarded on or after the law’s effective date.
